WALLINGFORD — Local non-profits and the business community are teaming up Wednesday to help nonprofits find new volunteer board members.

The United Way of Meriden-Wallingford and Liberty Bank Foundation are hosting a non-profit speed dating and business after hours event at Club Lucent, 25 North Plains Highway. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and is in collaboration with the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce.

“An issue kept coming up over and over…the need for new board members,” said United Way Executive Director Maria Harlow. “At the same time, people in the community keep reaching out to us looking for opportunities to get involved.”

The non-profit speed dating event is a way to connect volunteers who are looking to make a difference in their community.

Nonprofit representatives will have a few minutes to get acquainted one-on-one with each candidate and then move on to the next. Nonprofits can efficiently meet lots of candidates at one time.
